30 June - 3 July

This year is the 20th anniversary of the 1st JOBIM conference and then JOBIM is back to Montpellier!

IMPORTANT NOTICE: JOBIM goes virtual! more

JOBIM is the annual event that has been bringing together the French bioinformatics community every year since 20 years, attracting 300 to 500 participants. This conference is an opportunity to discover the scientific and technical advances of this theme at the crossroads of biology, computer science, mathematics and physics. The JOBIM organization is led by the SFBI (steering committee), with the strong involvement of a local organizing committee and a national scientific program committee (CP), and a partnership with the IFB and the GDR-BIM. The conference is a trans-disciplinary meeting place in a welcoming environment that encourages exchanges.

The event in 2020 will take place at the CORUM, next to the famous "Place de la comédie" in front of your personal computer.

Indeed, given the exceptional situation we are experiencing, holding a face-to-face JOBIM 2020 is highly compromised. However, the number of papers submitted and positive responses to the survey launched on the bioinfo mailing list last week and the support of our 5 guest speakers encourage us to keep the conference going. For the 20th anniversary of JOBIM, we have therefore decided to innovate and go virtual!

So there will be a JOBIM this year, on the same dates initially planned (from 30 June to 3 July). The schedule migth be adjusted depending on the technical solution chosen and the number of contributions selected. We are working hard to guarantee a quality solution!

In agreement with the SFBI, we will offer you an edition with long and flash talks streamed with live questions. The registration fees will probably be drastically reduced, but this new format will still require a financial participation adapted to the costs of the technical solution which will be very soon retained by the organizing committee.

We believe that this virtual format can be an opportunity to test a new, more environmentally friendly way of scientific exchange (which we will evaluate!) and can also be accessible to more people. Under these conditions, and following several requests, we have decided to reopen the submissions for a week, from April 13 to 19. This is an opportunity to propose new works or, for those already registered, to modify or even delete some submissions.
